About Opti-Greens 50

Opti-Greens 50 is one of the best selling products of 1st Phorm—an industry leading supplement and wellness product company.

Opti-Greens has nearly 15,000 5-star reviews online, making it undoubtedly an extremely popular product. Green powders in general have been growing in prominence with the likes of brands such as AG1 and Cymbiotika bringing them into the public’s eye.

Social media marketing in particular has made it possible for them to reach mainstream appeal and grow the industry to a whopping 279 million size in annual sales. We’re going to examine how the Opti-Greens 50 product measures up in regards to quality, formulation, effectiveness, price and more. Keep reading to see whether Opti-Greens 50 is worth the hype.

1st Phorm’s Story

As mentioned, Opti-Greens 50 is sold by the brand 1st Phorm. They’re an industry giant with over 100 products spanning athletic apparel to protein bars, pre workout supplements, health optimizing supplements and more. Their product range is truly impressive.

They have 7 main categories in addition to their clothing lines which include: protein powders + bars, pre/intra workout supplements, multivitamins, fat burners, wellness supplements, stacks (bundles), and health supplements.

Their products range from natural-leaning ingredients with no artificial preservatives, flavors, colors, or sweeteners; to something more in line with what you’d expect from a traditional sports supplements brand.

This includes fruity-flavored powders with synthetic ingredients and fat burners with names like “overdrive”. Regardless, 1st Phorm claims to have the highest standard of quality across the board for their products, regardless of the targeted customer.

1st Phorm was founded in 2008 by Andy Frisella. Andy Frisella is somewhat of a business celebrity in certain circles with his high ranking podcast, Real AF, and millions of social media followers. 1st Phorm was one of the first wildly successful businesses for Andy, and this helped secure his status as a business influencer and educator on social media (1).

Interestingly, Andy rarely advertises for 1st Phorm on any of his several avenues of audience reach despite ample opportunity. It just goes to show that the products from 1st Phorm are good enough to succeed as popular products on their own without the use of his own celebrity endorsement.

1st Phorms Mission

What sets 1st Phorm apart from similar companies is their approach. Most sports supplement companies have a slightly notorious reputation of using quick fixes, sub-par formulations, and intense marketing to sell their products. The industry is not as thoroughly regulated as one would hope, and there’s plenty of reasons to be hesitant before trying out new products.

The difference with 1st Phorm is their more detailed and quality-oriented approach. The founder Andy started the company because he was tired of supplement products that were cheaply produced, and were all talk with underwhelming results.

His goal was to create a supplement line that gives athletes the hard earned results they work for by taking his time for the research and development phases of product creation, and allowing his prices to reflect the superior quality of the final formulations. This is a refreshing take on what is otherwise an often homogeneous environment of sports supplements.

In addition to high quality products, 1st Phorm prides itself on personable and helpful customer service. They’re confident enough in their products that they’re willing to vouch for them and assist any customers who have issues. Many other companies avoid this and take their sales whenever and whoever they can get them with poor refund policies.

1st Phorm is actually so confident in their products that they offer a 110% back guarantee. Yes, you read that right: 110%. This means they’ll fully refund any product a customer isn’t happy with within the 30-day grace period, in addition to an extra 10% of the cost! Shipping isn’t included so this isn’t a loophole to be exploited, but rather a strong marker of high quality products and exceptional customer service.

Opti-Greens 50 Review

Despite the extensive 100+ products 1st Phorm has, we’re going to stick to examining just one. The Opti-Greens 50 supplement is a wellness powder with a host of proposed benefits. It’s touted as a “greens superfood with phytonutrients, digestive enzymes, and probiotics” to help improve gut health, immunity, nutrient intake, and general health.

Since the Opti-Green product is intended as a daily overall health support, it appears to be suitable for anyone. Their website doesn’t mention any contraindications, but since it’s rich in a host of micronutrients it may be worth checking in with a healthcare practitioner first to ensure there aren’t any interactions to be mindful of.

It’s intended to be a multi-functional product which means it can replace the need for a multivitamin, a probiotic, and digestive enzymes. This could mean that individuals already taking these things wouldn’t necessarily see additional benefit from the greens powder. It seems best suited for those looking for a single substance to round out their dietary needs and improve overall health.

Pros & Cons

The Pros

The main pro of using Opti-Greens 50 is the convenience of having a multi-purpose health supplement. With just two scoops mixed into a glass of water or another drink of choice, you’ll ideally be getting equivalent results to a well-rounded supplement routine.

In addition to this, Opti-Greens 50 is compatible with essentially any dietary concerns. It’s gluten free, non GMO and vegan-friendly with no artificial ingredients.

Lastly, and perhaps the most notable benefit of Opti-Greens 50 over other alternatives is their low temperature processing methods. This implies that the nutrition quality from the natural ingredients would be far higher than most other options.

The Cons

Though there are a number of great reasons to use Opti-Greens 50, there are a few drawbacks. Firstly, the 1st Phorm website doesn’t have much information on the nutrient content of this product. It only contains information on the minimum requirements: calories, fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar, and protein.

This excludes a number of micronutrients that could be helpful for the consumer to know about. Since Opti-Greens is often used as a multivitamin substitute, many customers likely want to know the nutrient details to better understand how to fit it into their complete supplement routine.

A second drawback would be the inclusion of a few ingredients some of the most health-conscious consumers would be wary of. Opti-Greens 50 contains natural flavors, corn maltodextrin, guar gum and xanthan gum, all of which can cause gastrointestinal issues in some people (2). A few reviews on their website do confirm that it causes digestive upset for a handful of people, and a few others stated that the flavor is somewhat grassy-tasting.

Opti-Greens 50 Ingredients Review

Opti-Greens 50 is a complex formulation with over 50 different ingredients. This will be too many to examine individually, so we’re instead going to look at the types of ingredients used and the overall effects of their combination.

As the name implies, one of the main components of this product is greens. Opti-Greens contains a greens superfood complex which includes: barley grass, spirulina, wheatgrass, alfalfa grass, oat grass, kale, spinach, parsley, and broccoli extract. Almost all of these (with the exception of the broccoli) are organic.

These greens are chalk full of micronutrients like vitamins A, C, E and K as well as minerals such as magnesium, calcium and iron. They also all contain slightly differing but highly beneficial bioactive substances that further support good health.

Wheatgrass for example contains glutathione which is a powerful antioxidant needed to protect the body from oxidative damage. Broccoli also is high in a substance called DIM which is important for helping with natural hormone balance. (3)

Overall, Opti-Greens 50 contains a good range of greens from organic sources which is a major plus. They add in a wealth of nutrition and can be highly beneficial for improving energy and nutrient intake.

Phyto Nutrient Complex

In addition to greens, the Opti-Greens 50 product contains a number of plant extracts for both flavor and added health benefits. This includes soluble rice bran, stevia, cinnamon bark extract, green tea leaf extract, beets, raspberry, curcumin, wild blueberry extract, strawberry, cranberry, raspberry seed, elderberry fruit extract and several more.

Almost all of these ingredients are well-proven to be great whole-food sources of potent nutrition with a unique profile of benefits pertaining to each one. Soluble rice bran for example is a much needed source of soluble fiber that helps to nourish the good microbes in the gut.

The fruit extracts are also high in pigments and phytochemicals with powerful antioxidant benefits. Curcumin is also a well studied substance extracted from turmeric with impressive gut health promoting effects (4). It can increase gut microbe diversity and improve the integrity of the intestinal barrier.

The plant-derived Ingredients in Opti-Greens 50 seem to be intelligent additions that can indeed make real improvements in gut health.

Digestive Enzymes

Another main ingredient component is the plant enzyme blend used to help aid in digestion and nutrient absorption. Opti-Greens 50 contains over 10 different plant enzymes which help to target different nutrients for digestion. Some assist with digesting carbohydrates, while others are useful to help break down fat or protein.

The digestive enzymes are a particularly helpful addition to the Opti-Greens 50 products since it’s such a complex formulation pack with different nutrients. The enzymes can help reduce the likelihood of gastrointestinal discomfort while also ensuring that you’re actually able to properly digest the greens to get the most nutrient bang for your buck.

Probiotic Blend

The probiotic blend used in Opti-Greens 50 uses 9 different bacterial strains: L.acidophilus, B.bifidum, B.longum, L.bulgaricus, L.plantarum, L.rhamnosus, L.salivarius, S.thermophilus, and L.reuteri. While there is great evidence behind these particular strains being beneficial (with L.acidophilus, B.bifidum and L.reuteri being especially promising), it’s important to note that a serving of Opti-Greens only contains 5 billion CFU of probiotics, and a dose of 10-20 is generally required to see therapeutic benefits (5).

Additionally, containing a greater variety of strains (10-20 is desirable) is important for encouraging gut microbiome diversity. For these reasons, the probiotics in Opti-Greens 50 are a nice touch, but they’re not an adequate substitution for consuming dietary probiotics or other probiotic supplements.

Other Ingredients

The above listed ingredients make up the majority of the Opti-Greens 50 product, but it does contain a few additional things to help improve the texture and shelf life. This includes xanthan gum and guar gum. These are natural and generally harmless ingredients, though xanthan does have a mild laxative effect which could be concerning for those with preexisting digestive troubles.

Guar gum is also linked to bloating, gas and cramps in some cases. This arguably opposes the intended goal of the product to ease gut discomfort and may make the product unsuitable for some customers.

Ingredients aside, the most important factor for any product is how well-loved it is by its users, and Opti-Greens 50 has plenty of glowing reviews.

Its overall rating on 1st Phorm’s website is 4.9/5/0 stars based on 15490+ Opti-Greens 50 reviews.

Here are a few notable Opti-Greens 50 reviews:

Is It Worth It?

Overall, Opti-Greens 50 seems like one of the best available green powders on the market for all but the most particular of customers. It has a wealth of beneficial ingredients, some of which are organic, and all of which are non-GMO. The comprehensiveness of this product will be hard to find elsewhere, and it can serve well as a daily nutrient booster and gut health tonic.
